Museum-Tracker Frequently Asked Questions

What are eBooks ?
If you have not used an eBook before, here are some tips.
An eBook is a file that is read by eBook software, in much the same way a web page like this is read by your browser. You are also probably familiar with Acrobat Reader - the software enabling you to read (and print) .pdf files on your Windows or Mackintosh desktop computer.
For Palm and Pocket PC PDAs and Smart Phones eBooks can be similarly read using eBook software such as Mobipocket, iSilo and MS eBook Reader designed for these devices.
In the same way that Acrobat Reader is pre-installed on most computers, eBook readers often come pre-installed on mobile devices such as PDAs and Smart Phones.

Is Museum-Tracker compatible with all Palm and Pocket PCs ?
Yes. Museum-Tracker is an eBook and can be read with Readers such as Mobipocket eBook Reader. One or more of these Readers are probably already on your PDA.
Museum-Tracker should work with any version of these Readers …

  • Mobipocket Reader for Palm and Pocket PC PDAs plus 3G and other web enabled phones.
See the Mobipocket web site for a full list of compatible devices.
For instructions on using the Mobipocket Reader itself, go to these pages:
Windows PC Palm OS Pocket PC Symbian OS Blackberry and Others

  • Microsoft eBook Reader. Usually pre-installed on Windows Pocket PC PDAs and Windows Mobile Smartphone.

  • Museum-Tracker is also available as a 'stand alone' Windows programme for use on notebook and desktop computers.
Note: this version does not run on Windows Pocket PCs or Windows based phones, as these versions of Windows are different.

Can I 'install' Museum-Tracker to my PDA from either my Windows or Macintosh computer ?
Yes. Museum-Tracker is an eBook, not a programme per se. It is downloaded and copied into the appropriate Folder of your HotSync or AutoSync, where it will be updated to your PDA when you Sync. So, it's irrelevant whether your desktop is a Windows or Macintosh.

Where can I purchase Museum-Tracker ?
You can purchase full versions of Museum-Tracker from PayPal - go to the Order page.

Is it safe to buy through PayPal ?
These services protect your financial information by encrypting the data during transmission. They also offer fraud protection measures, such as confirming each purchase by email. For more information go to PayPal Security Centre

Is the installation of Museum-Tracker complicated ?
No. Museum-Tracker is an eBook, not a programme per se. It is downloaded and copied into the appropriate Folder of your HotSync or AutoSync, where it will be updated to your PDA when you Sync.

Using the email addresses
Email addresses of museums are given as one of the contact options. Tap an email address to select the text. From the pop-up menu tap on 'Copy'. Open your mail programme and paste the address into the Address field of the composition form.

Do I need to register Museum-Tracker ?
No.

Adding mobile Museum-Tracker to your Favourites
in Internet Explorer on your Pocket PC or Smart Phone

ActivSync installs a plug-in labelled 'Mobile Favourites' into the desktop Windows Internet Explorer. An icon looking like a hand-held device with a gold star overlaid is placed on the Toolbar of your desktop IE. You may need to activate this in ActivSync by going to Options in the Tools menu and checking 'Favourites'.
Go to 'Museum-Tracker to Go' at -
http://www.museum-tracker.com/mobile/index.html
